Day 2 - Free Day to explore Naples

Free day to enjoy Naples: a city teeming with life. Naples is history, architecture, art but you can not separate all this from its inhabitants, which make

this city even more fascinating. Or, if you’re already familiar with Naples, take the Circumvesuviana towards Herculaneum to visit its splendid

archaeological site, and perhaps continue towards the marvelous Vesuvius. Or take the ferry for a walk around charming Capri.

Overnight in Naples.

Day 3 - Visit Pompei and Amalfi

Circumvesuviana line to Pompeii. Independent visit to the archaeological site of Pompeii.

In the afternoon private transfer from Pompeii to Amalfi, UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. The driver will already have the customers’ luggage

previously collected in Naples.

Overnight in Amalfi.

Day 4 - Walk on the Lemon Trail

Public bus to Maiori.

From Maiori walk on the scenic Lemon trail to Minori. Passing Minori, you go up in altitude towards the small village of Torello, until you reach the

Church of San Michele Arcangelo with its unique panorama of the sea. Finally, descend towards Atrani to return to Amalfi.

Overnight in Amalfi.

Distance: 7 km / 3 miles, Ascent 380 m / 1216 ft, Approximate walking time: 4 hrs

Day 5 - Valle delle Ferriere and dei Mulini

Public bus to Ravello, UNESCO site at 365 metres above sea level.

After a stroll in Ravello to discover its wonderful villas, walk through the terraces up to the medieval village of Pontone. The last stretch continues

through the Valley of Ferriere and Mills where the ruins of old factories where paper was produced are scattered.

Overnight in Amalfi.

Distance: 7 km / 4 miles, Ascent 200 m / 640 ft, Approximate walking time: 3 hrs

Day 6 - From Amalfi to Agerola

The route connects Amalfi with the village of Pogerola – 700 steps in a pleasant and shady climb – as well as with the wooded part of that village,

known for its chestnut groves. Then walk along a nice stretch of the high path of Valle delle Ferriere and turn off towards Mount Murillo: the paths are

mostly easy, but always proceed with great care as these are mountain paths!

The last stretch on a steep descending staircase finally leads to the small village of San Lazzaro di Agerola, where you will stay overnight.

Distance: 9 km / 5.5 miles, Ascent: 800 m / 2560 ft, Approximate walking time: 4 hours

Day 7 - Walk the Path of Gods

Walking along the Path of the Gods among the Amalfi coastal trails: the trail connects the hamlet of Bomerano di Agerola to that of Nocelle di

Positano.

The last downhill leads to the elegant village of Positano.

Return to Agerola by public transport for the last overnight.

Distance: 14 km / 8.6 miles, Ascent: 330 m / 1056 ft, Approximate walking time: 4/5  hours

Day 8 - Depart

After a hearty breakfast, you will depart for home.

A few words from our customers...

I am a single woman traveller embarking on a self-guided hiking trip. While it's common for woman to embark on such adventures these days, it's my first time ever to be on a self-navigated hiking trip overseas. This is why I feel so grateful that I have the Footfalls as my backbone

We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks self-guided walking on the Connemara and Western Way. This emphasized for me that Footfalls are there with you along the way albeit in the background. The B&Bs chosen were excellent and taxi pick-ups were very efficient. Even though the Way is well sign-posted, Christopher had provided us with very comprehensive route notes. Overall a very well organized and enjoyable week. Thank you Christopher and Teresa.
