About Our Guided Wicklow Day Hikes

Trails for All Who Appreciate the Wonders of Nature

Meet and walk with like-minded people through some of the most memorable scenery in Ireland. We’ll walk amidst broad-leaf forests, over heather-clad hills, and through scenic remote valleys with lakes, so you can discover the timeless beauty of a hidden landscape just waiting to be explored.

All of our guided day walks in Wicklow enjoy a very relaxed pace and the trails are carefully selected to give you the maximum enjoyment out of the day.

The distance travelled can vary as we opt for certain routes or paths based on the day and the walkers. All of the trails we choose allow for extending or shortening the walk.

On an average day, we will cover a distance of 10 to 12km with a moderate ascent.

Some of our trails follow part of the Wicklow Way, which is Ireland’s oldest waymarked trail.  All trails will, at some point, lead you up into the mountains where you will be rewarded with some outstanding views of the countryside.

Most walks start or finish in the charming and romantic valley of Glendalough. There, we can visit its world-famous 6th Century Monastic Settlement with the ruined churches, decorated crosses, and majestic round tower.

Glendalough is also home to two beautiful lakes, which also give Glendalough its Gaelic name: “Glen Dá Lough” meaning The Valley of The Two Lakes.

Join us for a Wicklow day tour to see for yourself why this area is known as the Garden of Ireland. Get in touch to book a hike.

Christopher offered my friend and I an amazing day. He assessed our abilities and our desires for our walk and gave us choices to make this day just what we wanted. He was extremely knowledgeable, kind and a delight to walk with. He gave us a great tour of the monastic community begun by St. Kevin and then led us up to a glorious hike high above. As a bonus he led us to St. Kevin's well which we would have never found on our own.

My nephew and I booked a walk/ hike to Tonelagee mountain in Co. Wicklow. I can easily say, it was one of the best days of my life. Christopher guided us up the mountain with patience and precision – this man knows his mountains and his enthusiasm for his work and the outdoors is inspiring and spurred on our tired legs – effort has its rewards! We never felt hurried rather encouraged to take as much time as needed to enjoy all the mountain had to offer. We share stops along the way, breathed in cold mountain air – stood, in awe at the spectacular views below. Nearing the top, Lough Ouler, comes into sight. Over millenniums, the elements have carved the lake into the shape of a heart; the sky, blue sky reflected in its still waters...

Christopher and Teresa are a great team and my friend and I had a lovely two day walking break, with three nights of dinner, bed and breakfast in the excellently located Glendalough Hotel. From the initial planning chat, Chris had a warm, flexible approach to our requests and abilities. He knows the Wicklow hills inside out and brought us to some hidden beauty spots as we happily trekked along. He even added in a second sortie on day one for me to locate the Gossun Stones as it was eqinox
